Mrs. Ruiz
Hello, my name is Marcia Ruiz. I have been a teacher here at Jose de Diego for 25 years.
I have a B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. in Reading. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade. I worked in the reading lab for two years, was a Reading Coach for two years, and as a Reading Interventionists for second and third graders for one year. After a year as an interventionist I returned to the classroom as as first grade teacher.
I am a proud mother of three adult sons, Noel, Joel, and Nathan. I have six grandchildren: Javier, Alina, Nathan, Haley, Ethan, and Noel. I am married to a wonderful man named Noel who has been a great supporter of all my decisions in life.
I am passionate about teaching and making a difference in the lives of my students.

Ms. Caruso
Hello! My name is Gina Caruso and this is my fifth year at de Diego.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year in first grade. Teaching young students is my passion and I am so excited to see all the things Room 126 will accomplish this year.
I graduated from University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. While in Champaign, I studied both psychology and dance. I recently received my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University. I am originally from the Chicago suburbs and have also lived in Palm Springs, California. In my spare time I enjoy relaxing with family and friends. I love reading, playing with my puppy, and I also teach yoga! I am a huge fan of the Cubs, Bulls, Bears, and Fighting Illini. This will be a busy year as I will be planning my August 2012 wedding. Next year I will be Mrs. Powell! I’m looking forward to a fantastic year working with students and parents to help each child reach their full potential.

Mrs. Vogt
Hello! I’m Irene Vogt, first grade teacher. I have been at De Diego for 11 years now! I am a graduate of DePaul University. I have taught grades 1-4 in previous years and the last two years provided technology classes for 4th through 8th grade. I have a wonderful husband and a two-year-old son, Nikolas. I love traveling and reading when I get some free time. I also enjoy spending as much time as I can with family and friends.
